Practical programmes rooted in ecology, education and shared green space

Every programme below is delivered on a non-commercial basis by our volunteers, and is open to members, families, schools and partner organisations across Czechia.

Programme 01

Community Allotment & Ecological Gardening Initiative

Providing guidance and support for chemical-free, sustainable plot management, water conservation techniques, and natural composting systems.

What this involves

One-to-one plot advisory visits for new allotment holders, covering soil assessment, crop rotation planning and chemical-free pest management.
Practical water conservation support: rainwater collection, mulching, drip irrigation layouts and drought-resilient planting schedules.
Shared composting infrastructure and training in hot composting, leaf mould production and on-plot green waste handling.
Seasonal working days where members maintain paths, fences, water points and shared tool storage together.

Who takes part: Allotment holders, household gardeners, new members
When it runs: Year-round, with peak activity from March to October
Cost to participants: Non-commercial. Covered by member contributions, volunteer effort and public benefit grants.

Programme 02

Biodiversity & Native Flora Protection Program

Focusing on planting native Czech flora, establishing pollinator-friendly gardens, and restoring local soil micro-ecosystems.

What this involves

Propagation and distribution of native Czech perennials, hedgerow shrubs and traditional fruit tree varieties suited to local conditions.
Creation of pollinator corridors: nectar-rich borders, undisturbed nesting banks, insect shelters and late-season flowering strips.
Soil restoration plots demonstrating cover cropping, reduced tillage and mycorrhizal recovery after years of intensive use.
Simple volunteer monitoring of pollinators, birds and flowering times, recorded season by season to guide future planting.

Who takes part: Volunteers, ecological enthusiasts, municipal partners
When it runs: Planting in spring and autumn; monitoring through summer
Cost to participants: Non-commercial. Covered by member contributions, volunteer effort and public benefit grants.

Programme 03

Youth & Educational Workshops

Organizing educational field sessions for schools and families to teach children about botany, fruit growing, and environmental stewardship.

What this involves

Guided garden visits for school classes with age-appropriate botany, seed-to-harvest and life-cycle activities.
Family sessions on grafting, pruning and fruit growing, led by experienced members of the association.
Hands-on stewardship tasks — sowing, watering, harvesting and composting — so children learn by doing, not just watching.
Free printed and downloadable seasonal gardening guides for teachers and parents to continue the learning at home.

Who takes part: Schools, kindergartens, families, youth groups
When it runs: School terms, spring and autumn field sessions
Cost to participants: Non-commercial. Covered by member contributions, volunteer effort and public benefit grants.

Programme 04

Annual Seed Swap & Horticultural Exchange

Facilitating traditional seed preservation, rare variety propagation, and knowledge sharing among community members.

What this involves

A community seed exchange where members bring saved seeds, cuttings and seedlings to share without any commercial transaction.
Preservation of regional and heirloom varieties through documented seed saving, labelling and careful storage.
Talks and demonstrations on pollination isolation, drying, cleaning and long-term seed viability.
An open register of available varieties so members can plan next season's planting together.

Who takes part: Members, local growers, regional gardening clubs
When it runs: Annual main event, with year-round seed library access
Cost to participants: Non-commercial. Covered by member contributions, volunteer effort and public benefit grants.
